The helpful tips below will educate you on how to care for and clean your PVC deck so that it looks its best from day one!

Removing Dirt and Grime

  • Remove any patio furniture, grills, rugs, and other items from the deck.
  • Use a broom or leaf blower to sweep the deck surface and remove loose debris such as leaves, pollen, or dirt.
  • Clean any fallen debris from the spaces between PVC deck boards.
  • If cleaning in bright sunlight, work in small sections keeping the deck boards wet during the entire process to allow for all dirt and soap residue to be rinsed off completely.
  • Standard household detergents or dishwashing liquids can be used to clean deck boards.
  • Before applying any cleaner, review the instructions for the product you are using.
  • Rinse the section of the deck completely with clear water.
  • Repeat these steps until the entire surface has been cleaned.
  • PVC decking needs to be cleaned at least once a year to keep looking its best.

Eliminating Oil and Grease

Clean oil or grease from your deck immediately with warm water and soap (scrubbing lightly). If soap and water can’t lift the oil or grease, try an all-purpose cleaner or, use a commercial deck cleaner designed specifically for your PVC deck.

Cleaning Mold and Mildew

Climate varies in different areas of the country. To reduce mold and mildew on your deck, clean it as often as needed, following the manufacturer’s instructions and use cleaners within their specified shelf life.
